Data Set and Basic Results Elif KORKMAZ

 This data set was created to analyze research networks of the European Framework Programmes FP5, FP6 and FP7 that Turkey and Germany has a collaborative project.  The time periods are FP5: , FP6: and FP7:  To generate this data we use European Commission’s Community Research and Development Information Service (CORDIS) webpage.

 In this context, we seperated the framework programmes three different subgroups as we can see in the table below. FP5 Turkey Coordinator Germany Participant Germany Coordinator Turkey Participant Both Participant FP6 Turkey Coordinator Germany Participant Germany Coordinator Turkey Participant Both Participant FP7 Turkey Coordinator Germany Participant Germany Coordinator Turkey Participant Both Participant

 Between Turkey took an active part in 74 FP5 projects.  34 of the projects that Turkey took active part in FP5, are joint projects with Germany. Germany’s share in projects that Turkey took part in FP5

 As we can see in the table, in any projects Turkey is a coordinator in FP5 which are joint projects with Germany. Turkey acts as a participant country.  IST, INCO 2 and the EESD programs the number of projects are high that these two country worked together. IST: Information Society, INCO 2: International Cooperation EESD: Energy, environment and sustainable development

 In FP5, MIDDLE EAST TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY has the biggest number of share as a partner institute.  Middle East Technical University took an active part in 10 projects.  The second company is University of Istanbul with 3 projects.

 In FP5 projects FRAUNHOFER GESELLSCHAFT ZUR FOERDERUNG DER ANGEWANDTEN FORSCHUNG E.V. has the biggest number of share as a partner institute.  Fraunhofer Gesellschaft zur Foerderung der Angewandten Forschung E.V. took an active part in 4 different projects and two of them as a coordinator two of them as a participant company.

 Between Turkey took an active part in 374 FP6 projects.  221 of the projects that Turkey took active part in FP6, are joint projects with Germany. Germany’s share in projects that Turkey took part in FP6 between

 The joint projects between theese two countries increases.  These two countries have high number of projects especially in; Information Technologies, Energy, Nanoscience-Nanotechnology, Sustainable Development, SME and Knowledge-Based Bioeconomy programmes.  Germany has big share in all the framework programmes that Turkey enrolled.

 We expect strong relationship between these two countries in terms of research network but we are going to reach the big picture and detailed information after network analysis
