Millions of minutes By Kaylee Reiman Mrs. Graffin’ s class Mrs. Graffin’ s class2011-2012
The Question By our graduation in 2020,Will we have gone to school for 1,000,000 (one million) minutes?
Minutes per Day We go to school 6 hours per day. One hour is equal to 60 minutes. 6 hours x60 minutes=360 minutes We go to school 360 minutes per day!
Minutes per week We go to school 5 days per week. If we take 360 minutes per day and multiply by 5 days per week 360x5=1,800 Wow, we go to school 1,800 mintues per week
Minutes per Year We go to school 36 weeks per year. We know we go to school 1,800 minutes per week so to get the minutes per year we will need to mulitply. 36x1,800 =minutes per day!
By 2020 We graduate in 2020 and by that time we will have gone to school 13 years. To figure out the total minutes by 2020 we will need to multiply. 64,800 x 13 = 842,400 Wow! We have gone to school 842,400 minutes!!!!☻
Conclusion By our graduation in 2020 we will not have gone to school for one million minutes. Instead we would have only gone for 842,400 minutes
