Abraham called the name of that place The LORD Will Provide, as it is said to this day, "In the mount of the LORD it will be provided." Genesis 22:14

And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah-jireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen. Genesis 22:14 (KJV, ASV)

Does God still intervene in human affairs as He did with Abraham and Isaac? If not, then at what point in human history did He stop and why?

Gen. 45:5-9; 50:20 As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good in order to bring about this present result, to preserve many people alive. Providence defined

Evidence for God’s providential working

Where God works providentially

What does God use as He works providentially?

He uses what we call “nature”

Deut. 28:23-24 The heaven which is over your head shall be bronze, and the earth which is under you, iron. The LORD will make the rain of your land powder and dust; from heaven it shall come down on you until you are destroyed. Does God still do this?

Hag. 1:10-11 Therefore, because of you the sky has withheld its dew and the earth has withheld its produce. called for a drought on the land, on the mountains, on the grain, on the new wine, on the oil, on what the ground produces, on men, on cattle, and on all the labor of your hands. Does God still do this?

Amos 4:7-10 Furthermore, I withheld the rain from you while there were still three months until harvest. Then I would send rain on one city and on another city I would not send rain; one part would be rained on, while the part not rained on would dry up… yet you have not returned to Me," declares the LORD. "I smote you with scorching wind and mildew; and the caterpillar was devouring your many gardens and vineyards, fig trees and olive trees; yet you have not returned to Me, declares the LORD. Does God still do this?

He uses ministering spirits/angels

Spiritual battle Rev. 12:7; 17:14 And there was war in heaven, Michael and his angels waging war with the dragon. The dragon and his angels waged war, And they were not strong enough, and there was no longer a place found for them in heaven…These will wage war against the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, because He is Lord of lords and King of kings, and those who are with Him are the called and chosen and faithful. Is this on-going today?

Devil is active 1 Pet. 5:8 Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Does Satan still do this?

Devil is active Eph. 2:1-2 And you were dead in your trespasses and sins, 2 in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience. Does Satan still do this?

Devil is active Eph. 6:10-12 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Does Satan still do this?

God active Dan. 10:10-11, Then behold, a hand touched me and set me trembling on my hands and knees. He said to me, "O Daniel, man of high esteem, understand the words that I am about to tell you and stand upright, for I have now been sent to you." And when he had spoken this word to me, I stood up trembling Does God still do this?

God active Dan. 10:12-13 Then he said to me, " Do not be afraid, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart on understanding this and on humbling yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to your words. 13 "But the prince of the kingdom of Persia was withstanding me for twenty-one days; then behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I had been left there with the kings of Persia. Does God still do this?

God active Ps. 103:20 Bless the LORD, you His angels, mighty in strength, who perform His word, obeying the voice of His word! Does God still do this?

He uses miracles I believe in miracles today ! or ?

I do not believe in the modern-day existence of the spiritual gift of miracles (1 Cor. 12:10) or the existence of any other spiritual gifts mentioned in this chapter (1 Cor. 13:8-9). I do believe that God does not have to operate through human agency in order to bring about the working of a miracle Does God still do this?

Shouldn’t conclude that when God uses “supernatural” powers that such will always be obvious to us (conception/pregnancy of Mary, e.g.) Should be careful in concluding we know for sure that God has used a miracle, supernatural powers BUT we should also be careful not to rule out that possibility. Does God still do this?

O LORD, You have searched me and known me. You know when I sit down and when I rise up; You understand my thought from afar. You scrutinize my path and my lying down, and are intimately acquainted with all my ways. Even before there is a word on my tongue, behold, O LORD, You know it all. You have enclosed me behind and before, and laid Your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is too high, I cannot attain to it.

Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend to heaven, You are there; if I make my bed in Sheol, behold, You are there. If I take the wings of the dawn, if I dwell in the remotest part of the sea, even there Your hand will lead me, and Your right hand will lay hold of me. If I say, "Surely the darkness will overwhelm me, and the light around me will be night," even the darkness is not dark to You, and the night is as bright as the day. Darkness and light are alike to You.
