2 Setup for LAUSDnet By Susana Herrera, TLCG Advisor

3 n Find the My Computer icon on your desktop n Double click on the icon to open it Desktop

4 n Double click on n Dial-up Networking My Computer

5 Dial-up Networking n Double click on the Make New Connection icon

6 Make New Connection n Type in LAUSDnet on the line that says My Connection n Click on Configure

7 Modem Properties n Will show Comm Port n Will show max modem speed….should be n Click on Connection tab

8 Modem Properties n Data bits 8 n Parity none n Stop bits 1 n Click on Advanced

9 Advanced Connection Settings n Check mark in Use Error Control n Check mark in Compress Data n Check mark in Flow Control n Dot in Hardware (RTC/CTS) n Click on OK once Back to previous window n Click on Next

10 Make New Connection n Type in Number of Computer you want to call n (213) Downtown LA n (818) San Fernando Valley Area n (818) Sunland-Tujunga Area n (310) Gardena-San Pedro Area n (310) West LA Area n Click on Next

11 Make New Connection n You are almost done n Click on Finish

12 Dial-up Networking n Click once on the connection icon you just completed n Use Right mouse button and click icon

13 n Click on Properties on the drop down menu

14 n Insure that information is correct n Click on Server Types tab

15 n Make sure PPP.Internet…….is selected. n Check marks in Logon and Enable software compression only n Check mark in TCP/IP n Click on TCP/IP Settings Button

16 n Click on Server assigned IP address n Click on Specify name server address n In the Primary DNS type in the numbers n In the Secondary DNS type in the numbers n Insure that zeros are in Primary Wins and Secondary Wins n Make sure that only Use Default gateway has checkmark n Click OK Twice

17 DONE!! At Last with setting up the telephone n Right click on Make shortcut on drop down menu n Answering Yes to message will place an icon on your desktop

18 Open Control Panel n Double click on My Computer icon n Double click on the Control Panel icon

19 Find Network Double click on the Network icon

20 n Click and highlight TCP/IP Dial up Adapter n Click on Properties n Click OK

21 Gateway Tab n Select the Gateway tab n Enter the following numbers n Click Add n Click on the DNS Configuration Tab

22 DNS Configuration Tab n Select Enable DNS n In the Host box, type in LAUSDnet n In the Domain box, type in lausd.k12.ca.us all lower case n In the DNS Search Order type in the following numbers n Click Add n Type in n Click Add n In the Domain Suffix Search Order type us n Click Add n Click OK again n Click Ok to restart your computer

23 Your computer is now setup to connect to LAUSDnet We still have to set up your Internet Browser E xplorer or Netscape
