2 The Moon Continued… Crater- a low, bowl-shaped area on the surface of the moon. Many are millions, if not billions of years old because there is no erosion on the moon.

3 The Moon Continued… Similarities between the moon and Earth: –Both are rocky and fairly dense (thick / hard) –Both have many of the same elements like aluminum, iron, and oxygen. –Both have craters!

4 The Moon Continued… Differences between the moon and Earth: –Moon is only about 1/4 th the size of the Earth. –Moon’s pull of gravity is about 1/6 th that of Earth. (180lb person would weigh 30lbs.) –Moon has almost no atmosphere and no liquid water. –Moon has temperatures from 212 degrees F to –247 degrees F at night. –Moon has more craters.
