ITU-R World Radiocommunication Seminar Geneva, 8–12 December 2008 SpaceQry Workshop Space Query and Extract System Steve Boswell Space Administrative Software Division

ITU-R World Radiocommunication Seminar Geneva, 8–12 December 2008 1)Identify networks using a given frequency band 2)Update the SRS database with IFIC data 3)Do a Regulatory Date query Workshop Overview

ITU-R World Radiocommunication Seminar Geneva, 8–12 December 2008 Identify networks using a given frequency band Frequency Query 1)One or more frequency bands 2)Orbital position range (optional) 3)Notification reason (optional) 4)Administration/Organization (optional) 5)Beam Orientation (optional) 6)Required Results: Which level of detailWhich level of detail Sorting orderSorting order

ITU-R World Radiocommunication Seminar Geneva, 8–12 December 2008 Frequency Query

ITU-R World Radiocommunication Seminar Geneva, 8–12 December 2008 Frequency Query

ITU-R World Radiocommunication Seminar Geneva, 8–12 December 2008 Frequency Query Exercise: 1) Find all notified networks having frequencies operating in either of the following frequency bands: Ku band downlink (12.5 - 12.75 GHz)Ku band downlink (12.5 - 12.75 GHz) Ku band uplink (12.75 - 13.25 GHz)Ku band uplink (12.75 - 13.25 GHz) 2)Same query but display with a sample overlapping frequency. 3)Same query but display all overlapping frequencies. Frequency Query

ITU-R World Radiocommunication Seminar Geneva, 8–12 December 2008 Export vs. Import SpaceQry has always had the philosophy of exporting data as opposed to importing data. Historically this is because of having the SRS database exclusively on a CD-ROM in the days when hard-disc space was limited. Because of this, the SRS was almost always used directly from the read-only CD-ROM.

ITU-R World Radiocommunication Seminar Geneva, 8–12 December 2008 Export vs. Import (2) fact Today, and in fact for the last several years, disc space is no longer an issue, so it is now relatively easy to maintain an up-to-date SRS database on your hard disc (or even on your iPod) which pretty well matches the BR's database.

ITU-R World Radiocommunication Seminar Geneva, 8–12 December 2008 Export vs. Import (3) Because of SpaceQry's historical "export" philosophy, the method for updating your local SRS is to export the new data from the IFIC database into the SRS database. To do this you need only…

ITU-R World Radiocommunication Seminar Geneva, 8–12 December 2008 Updating Your SRS 1) copy the SRS from the DVD onto your hard drive; 2) remove the read-only attribute of the SRS.mdb file; 3) every 2 weeks, download the new IFIC database from the web (or take it from the IFIC CD-ROM); 4) open the IFIC database with SpaceQry; 5) select the File:Export:Update the SRS menu option; 6) select your local SRS as the "target" database

ITU-R World Radiocommunication Seminar Geneva, 8–12 December 2008 SRS Database Update Exercise For a detailed, step-by-step description on updating your SRS from IFIC data see the document: SQryUpdatingSRS.pps http://www.itu.int/ITU-R/software/space/spaceqry/documentation/docs/SQryUpdatingSRS.pps SRS Update

ITU-R World Radiocommunication Seminar Geneva, 8–12 December 2008 Regulatory Date Query List the regulatory dates for frequency range(s) of a given satellite within its API / Coordination / Notification / Res49 cycle 1) Satellite Name 2) One or more frequency ranges (optional)

ITU-R World Radiocommunication Seminar Geneva, 8–12 December 2008 Regulatory Date Query

ITU-R World Radiocommunication Seminar Geneva, 8–12 December 2008 Regulatory Date Query Exercise 1) Perform a Regulatory Date Query (a.k.a.“Date-Link” query) for the following: Satellite network: THAICOM-A2BSatellite network: THAICOM-A2B Frequency range:10.950 – 11.200 GHzFrequency range:10.950 – 11.200 GHz 2) Save results as an html document Regulatory Date Query Hint !
