2 Fact file for the NZ Falcon  Scientific name: Kerearea  classification:  Size:45cm, female larger.  Colour: black, white and brown  Lives: In bush or in high trees  Eats: small lizards, Insects and rabbits.

3 The NZ Falcon  The NZ Falcon is also known as the Kerearea. He’s named that because it is a native bird not a introduced to our country. It has a short, curved, black beck It also has yellow and orange eyes, with soft coloured feathers. It also has a darker colouring of black. The NZ Falcon has sharp curved talens just like his beck! It has a long tail and orange bumpy legs.

4 Habitat  Where do NZ Falcons live? In the steep high country in the south Island.  What type of home do they live in? Mainly found in heavy bush  Forest, shore, cliff etc? They live in the heavy bush and steep high country in the south island it is really found in a line in the central of the north island.

5 Fun facts  How long they live? 6-10 years. Only half the size of an Australian Harrier The NZ Falcon can see things far away once seen caught seen a rabbit in the big bushes that you can hardly see nothing

6 Why is the NZ Falcon near threatened?  The NZ Falcon is near threatened because the NZ Falcon is a threat to the hens and chickens in the farm, so the farmer shots them dead. But the NZ Falcon became protected in the 1970.The NZ Falcon can be threatened in many other ways as well.

7 How people are helping?  In wingspan they keep them, look after them to keep them safe them and sound when they are hurt just like a hospital but for birds. When they are ready and strong they realise them back into the wild.

8 How could you help?  I could help by feeding and caring for it and if it has a broken wing I can try cure it. And try help it by many different ways how ever it needs help. For e.g. broken wing, cheeped beck and many others or I can help by....say it was stuck in town on a building and doesn't know how to get back to the wild I could try take it.
