7 Work with Item / Sub Classes Maintains the standard DMAS item and item sub-classes in the DMAS item class file The initial Work with Item Classes screen displays a list of existing item classes and sub-classes “Change” option available to allow user to change a specific item class/sub-class record Options available to o Remove an existing item class/sub-class record o Browse an existing item class/sub-class record o Work with fine lines within a given item class/sub-class Entry capable line for sub-setting the list o To start with a specified item class and/or item sub-class o To include only those item class/sub-class records whose description contains the text keyed by the user o To list only those item class/sub-class records that contain a specific minimum margin percentage o To list only those item class/sub-class records that contain a specific default cost percentage Function key available for adding a new item class/sub-class 6

9 Work with Item / Sub Classes The initial Work with Item Class/Sub-class screen Using the 1=Add sub class option will default the item class field on the subsequent Item Class Detail screen, to the item class of the item class/sub-class record on which the option was keyed When using the F6=Add record function key for adding item class/sub-class records, there will be NO default item class or sub- class on the subsequent Item Class Detail screen 8 Return to Item Class UFM Summary Continue

10 Work with Item / Sub Classes Searching for an item class The user may choose to position the list of item classes to start with a specific item class by entering the desired item class number The list will then start with item class “23”, or if it does not exist, the next higher item class number (see next panel) 9 Return to Item Class UFM Summary Continue

11 Work with Item / Sub Classes Starting with item class number “23” The list of sales reps now starts with sales rep “24” (item class 23 does not exist) To search for specific data anywhere within the class description field, start by blanking out the previous “23”, then in the “Description” field, key a blank followed by the data to search for, such as “_APPL” 10 The list will then include ONLY those item class records that contain the character string of “APPL” anywhere within their description field (see next panel) Return to Item Class UFM Summary Continue NOTE: If the leading blank is not keyed, then the search will only look for descriptions that “start with” the character string keyed

13 Add a New Item Class Provides the ability for a user to add new item class records to the item class file Typically, an “item class” record is an item class/sub- class record with an item class number and a zero (“00”) sub-class An item class record should always exist as a “header” record if one or more sub-classes are to exist under the item class 12

15 Press the Enter key, verify your entry, then press the Enter key again to add the new item class record to the file Add a New Item Class The Item Class Detail screen is displayed in Add mode Enter a unique item class identifier For an item class record, leave the sub-class field default to zero (0) The item class description is required, all other item class fields are optional 14 Return to Item Class UFM Summary

16 Add a New Item Sub Class Provides the ability for a user to add new item sub-class records to the item class file Typically, an item “sub-class” record is an item class/sub- class record with an item class number AND a non-zero sub-class Any item sub-class record should always be supported by a corresponding item class “header” record 15

19 Change an Item / Sub Class Provides the ability for a user to make changes to the contents of an existing item class/sub-class record This function may be used to set minimum margin percentages and/or default item cost percentages for specific item classes/sub-classes This function may be used to activate an item class/sub- class record currently marked for deletion This function may be used to mark an item class/sub- class record for deletion 18

20 Change an Item / Sub Class Use the 2=Change option on the Work with Item Classes screen Key the 2=Change option adjacent to the item class/sub-class to be changed Function key for adding new item class/sub-class records Input capable selection fields with which the user can position the list to start with a particular item class and/or sub-class, or search for an item class description, minimum margin % or default cost % Continue 19 Return to Item Class UFM Summary

21 Change an Item / Sub Class The Item Class Detail screen is then displayed in Change mode Any input capable field may then be changed To mark an item class/sub-class for deletion, change the Status to an “D” To immediately remove an item class/sub-class record, use function key F20=remove 20 Return to Item Class UFM Summary

22 Remove an Item / Sub Class Provides the ability for a user to immediately remove an existing item class/sub-class If current sales information exists for the item class/sub- class being removed, the remove will be rejected with an appropriate message An item class/sub-class may only be removed if no current sales information exists for that item class/sub- class 21

23 Remove an Item / Sub Class Use option 4=Remove to immediately remove an item class/sub-class record Use option 4=Remove to immediately remove an item class/sub-class record from the item class file Continue 22 Return to Item Class UFM Summary CAUTION: When using the “remove” option, once the removal is confirmed, the record will be permanently removed from the file

26 Browse an Item / Sub Class Provides the ability for a user to browse the contents of an item class/sub-class record without the chance of erroneously making changes 25

29 Mark Item / Sub Class for Delete Provides the ability for a user to mark an existing item class / sub-class record for deletion and subsequent purging from the item class file An item class/sub-class may only be marked for deletion if no current sales information exists for that item class/sub-class An item class / sub-class marked for deletion will be purged from the DMAS item class file the next time that DMAS master file reorganization (UREORG) is run and the item class file is selected for reorganization 28

34 Work with Fine Lines Maintains the I/O fine line breakdown within item sub- classes in the I/O fine line file The initial Work with Fine Line Groups screen displays a list of existing fine lines within the specified item sub- class o Option to view all fine lines within a specified item class o Option to view all fine lines regardless of item class and/or sub-class “Change” option available to allow user to change a specific fine line record Options available to o Remove an existing fine line record o Browse an existing fine line record Entry capable line for sub-setting the list o To start with a specified fine line within a given item sub-class o To include only those fine line records whose description contains the text keyed by the user Function key available for adding a new fine line 33

35 Work with Fine Lines Start with the initial Work with Item Class/Sub-class screen Navigate to the item class/sub- class for which you want to work with fine lines The text “Yes” indicates that at least one fine line already exists for a given item class/sub-class For the desired item class/sub- class, use the F=Fine line option to view the Work with Fine Lines screen for the specified item class/sub-class (see next panel) Continue 34 Return to Item Class UFM Summary

37 Work with Fine Lines Searching for a fine line The user may choose to list only those fine lines having a specific fine line code The list will then list only those fine lines with a fine line code of “25” 36 Return to Item Class UFM Summary Continue Since in this example, there is only one fine line with a code of 25 within item class 59 and sub-class 10, only one record will be found and displayed

38 Work with Fine Lines Displaying fine lines of “25” The list of fine lines is now limited to one fine line record of “25” Blanking out the item class and sub-class selection fields only, would display a list of all fine line 25 records regardless of item class and/or sub-class 37 The list will then include ONLY those fine line records that contain the character string of “SYSTEM” anywhere in their description field (see next panel) Return to Item Class UFM Summary Continue NOTE: If the leading blank is not keyed, then the search will only look for descriptions that “start with” the character string keyed To search for specific data anywhere within the fine line description field, start by blanking out the previous selection entries, then in the “Description” field, key a blank followed by the data to search for, such as “_SYSTEM”

39 Work with Fine Lines Searching for fine line descriptions containing “SYSTEM” The list of fine lines displayed is now limited to those that contain the character string of “SYSTEM” anywhere within their description field 38 Return to Item Class UFM Summary

40 Add a New Fine Line Provides the ability for a user to add new fine line records to the I/O fine line file (supporting the DMAS item class file) Typically, “fine line” records are used to break down a specific item sub-class into a more finite level Typically, an item class may have multiple sub-classes, and each sub-class may have multiple fine lines 39

41 Add a New Fine Line Use F=Fine line to view a list of existing fine lines for a given item class/sub-class Use the F=Fine line option to display the Work with Fine Line Groups screen (see next panel) Continue 40 Return to Item Class UFM Summary
