E-Learning - essentially the computer and network-enabled transfer of skills and knowledge. Asynchronous - a student-centered teaching method that uses online learning resources to facilitate information sharing outside the constraints of time and place among a network of people. Synchronous - a group of people learning the same things at the same time in the same place.

Segmentation - chunks of information you intend to treat differently from others by breaking them up into parts Pretraining - process large segments of information would overwhelm the learner’s cognitive system by presenting the important parts early Contiguity - adjacent to one another and appear to be connected, but may in fact be disconnected

1. Decorative - Visuals added for aesthetic appeal or for humor 2. Representational - Visuals that illustrate the appearance of an object 3. Organizational - Visuals that show qualitative relationships among content 4. Relational - Visuals that summarize quantitative relationships 5. Transformational - Visuals that illustrate changes in time or over space 6. Interpretive - Visuals that make intangible phenomena visible and concrete

Personalization - using technology to accommodate the differences between individuals Worked Examples - step-by-step demonstration of how to perform a task or how to solve a problem

Principles of Graphics  Graphics to Teach Content Types.  Graphics as Topic Organizers.  Graphics to Show Relationships.  Graphics as Lesson Interfaces. (Clark & Mayer, 2008)

 Words need to communicate message of graphics.  Text must be placed in proper area near graphics.  Words can be visual, such as different colors or sizes.  Words keep the flow of slides and graphics.

DisobedienceKeep Commandments Disobedience takes away light and truth Less light and truth leads to disobedience Keeping the Commandments adds to light and truth More light and knowledge help us resist temptation

Light – Intelligence, or in other words the Glory of God. (D&C 93:36) Truth – Knowledge of things as they are, and as they were, and as they are to come. (D&C 93:24) Disobedience – Doing anything forbidden of God knowingly

I am the Spirit of truth, and John bore record of me, saying: He received a fulness of truth, yea, even of all truth;truth received 27 And no man receiveth a fulness unless he keepeth his commandments.fulness 28 He that keepeth his commandments receiveth truth and light, until he is glorified in truth and knoweth all things.keepeth truthlight knoweth 29 Man was also in the a beginning with God. 14  Music  Spoken word without written text.  Spoken word with text.  Video clips with audio and graphics.  Downloaded songs.

Audio enhancement Lack of audio is a constraint that will negatively impact the instructional quality of your e-learning courseware. Avoid e-Lessons with Extraneous Audio When audio supports graphics learning grows. Explain Visuals with Words in Audio
