1 Product Improvement 3.4

2  Problem 3.4.3b – Product Improvement Design Brief
Client Company: BiC Designer: Brianna Galvan Problem Statement: The tape constantly gets derailed, so it twists and makes it very difficult to use or fix, rendering the object completely useless.  Design Statement: Design and model a new model of the EZ-Correct Wite-Out that doesn’t derail or easily tangle when disassembled or  used.  Constraints: Must be made of plastic Must weigh less than .010 One week deadline Must not interfere with the final function of the product

3 Decision Matrix Tighter inside 1 6 Walls instead of guiders 3 2 11
Cost Difficulty to change Lave function unhindered Solve the Problem Weight Attractiveness Total Tighter inside 1 6 Walls instead of guiders 3 2 11 More tape like container 4 14 Thicker tape 5 19 Less Room between reel and wall 20

4 Idea one, having a “tighter inside,” or a tighter more direct and close path, is clearly the smallest so it is the design I chose to go with…

5 How do you fix it? Now knowing that Idea #1, making a tighter path for the tape, is the best option. Several changes had to be made. Several new circle rods were added so that the tape would follow the correct course with ought space to twist and turn
