European Coal and Steel Community 1952: began with the signing of the Treaty of Paris, establishing the European Coal and Steel Community, to regulate industry & commerce
Goals of the EC n improve Europes economy n To form a single market n other goals were developed: n Environmental movements n Regulatory acts n Human rights concerns.
THE EUROPEAN UNION 1992: the Maastricht Treaty rechartered the EC as the European Union.
