H. P. Piorr, S. Laufer University of Applied Sciences Eberswalde BBN Meeting – Eberswalde, 01.12.2006 Work status Brandenburg, UAS Eberswalde

H. P. Piorr, S. Laufer University of Applied Sciences Eberswalde 1. Biogas potential for Brandenburg for the Brandenburg energy strategy 2010 and biogas handbook Based on winter rye & maize potential on the municipality level and slurry potential (cattle & pigs) on the county level 2.Regional analysis of spatial impact (resources, logistics etc.) of planned Biogas facilities in the region of Templin Schulzenfelde: 4 – 6 plants with 500 kW each Eselshütte: 10 plants Reinfeld: 4 plants First meetings held, review of applications done WP 1 – regional scenario models

H. P. Piorr, S. Laufer University of Applied Sciences Eberswalde 1.GIS based investment feasibility study planned Straw ethanol plant in cooperation with VW and Iogen planned straw ethanol facility in Germany search for potential sites UAS was asked for straw potential analysis Germany 1. Model based 2. Statistically based WP 2 – operational models

H. P. Piorr, S. Laufer University of Applied Sciences Eberswalde 2. GIS based potential modelling in the Baltic Sea Region model based on yield index Germany adaption to data situation in baltic states??? WP 2 – GIS modelling

H. P. Piorr, S. Laufer University of Applied Sciences Eberswalde WP 2 – GIS modelling soil data in the baltic states used for derivation of yield index

H. P. Piorr, S. Laufer University of Applied Sciences Eberswalde WP 2 – GIS modelling annual percipitation (mm)

H. P. Piorr, S. Laufer University of Applied Sciences Eberswalde First results: annual yield potential winter rye in Germany, Poland and Baltics

H. P. Piorr, S. Laufer University of Applied Sciences Eberswalde Potentials and actually harvested amounts (statistically based) of cereals in Germany and the Baltic States

H. P. Piorr, S. Laufer University of Applied Sciences Eberswalde Szenario: Bioethanol Winterroggen Average year (100 %) Catchment area in dry years Catchment area for the ethanol plant in Schwedt (winterryre): in average years, in dry years

H. P. Piorr, S. Laufer University of Applied Sciences Eberswalde Soil data of Estonia are already purchased and currently tested on our model Finnish soil data are going to be obtained via spatial data exchange plattform Latvia: only analog soil data digitalisation?! Lithuania: soil yield index exists purchase of data sets possible? Poland: yield index map exists but difficult to talk with IUNG/Pulawy about purchasing the data Soil data situation for more accurate modelling: At the moment we are modelling with coarse European data

H. P. Piorr, S. Laufer University of Applied Sciences Eberswalde WP 3 – Strategies, Networking & Dissemination Master class course renewable energies – 23.- 27. October 2006 Students, stakeholders, representatives from politics, economy and society are invited to discuss possibilities of extensive renewable Energy applications under the patronage of the Brandenburg minister for science, research and culture Dr. Johanna Wanka Over 100 participants during the 5 days For more information take a look at our BBN website and at www.fh-eberswalde/mcc-re
