2 Educational Empowerment: We Are Our Brothers Keeper! General Information DAT, Dental Admission Test, is a computerized test which measures general academic ability, comprehension of scientific information and perceptual ability; and its score is merely a formality in the admission process. The general cost for registration of the exam is $285.

3 Educational Empowerment: We Are Our Brothers Keeper! General Information The test is offered exclusively on the computer and consists of a battery of four tests: –Survey of Natural Sciences –Perceptual Ability –Reading Comprehension –Quantitative Reasoning

4 Educational Empowerment: We Are Our Brothers Keeper! Test Format All questions asked in DAT are multiple- choice questions. The total time taken to conduct DAT is about 4 hours and 30 minutes. There is an optional break of 15 minutes after the completion of two sections of DAT. 15 minutes are allotted to a tutorial in the beginning and 15 minutes for post test survey in the end.

6 Educational Empowerment: We Are Our Brothers Keeper! Perceptual Ability Time: 60 minutes Format: 90 questions Topics Tested: –Visualizing in 3 dimensions and Angle discrimination, and block counting

7 Educational Empowerment: We Are Our Brothers Keeper! Reading Comprehension Time: 60 minutes Format: 50 questions Topics Tested: –Ability to absorb information –Finding the main idea –Ability to keep track of information

8 Educational Empowerment: We Are Our Brothers Keeper! Quantitative Reasoning Time: 45 minutes Format: 40 questions Topics Tested: –Algebra –Word Problems –Basic Math –Geometry –Trigonometry

9 Educational Empowerment: We Are Our Brothers Keeper! Test Score The scores received in DAT tests are derived from the number of points gained from correctly answered questions. No marks are deducted for incorrect answers. Hence, students can go ahead to guess the answers when they are in doubt without any worries. All questions carry equal marks.

10 Educational Empowerment: We Are Our Brothers Keeper! Test Score The standard scores received in DAT range between 1 and 30. For Survey of Natural Science separate sub-scores are reported for 3 subsections along with a total score. Separate scores are reported for Quantitative Reasoning Test, Reading Comprehension Test and Perceptual Ability Test as well.

Perceptual Ability: Counting Cubestake some time up front to tally all the cubes in the object. Make a list on your scratch paper with entries of "0 sides painted" to "5 sides painted."

Strategy Tips Reading Comprehension: Active ReadingThe best test-takers use a strategic plan for attacking passages and questions in an aggressive, energetic, and critical way. Quantitative Ability: Pick Numbers Rather than trying to work with unknown variables, you can pick concrete values for the variables.
