Because August is one of the hottest months of the year here in Connecticut. Heres some interesting facts about our sun… The suns light takes approximately 8 minutes and 18 seconds to reach earth. If the sun were a hollow ball, you could fit about 1 million earths inside of it. The sun, at present is made out of 70 % hydrogen, 28% helium and everything else amounts to less than 2%. Fusion, the same as a hydrogen bomb, powers the sun. The sun is about 5 billion years old and is expected to last another 4.5 billion years. The movement of sunspots indicate that the sun rotates once every 27 days at the equator, but only once every 31 days at the poles. The sun contains 99% of all mass in our solar system. During a solar eclipse, local temperatures can drop up to 20 degrees Fahrenheit. The suns surface is approximately 10,000 degrees Fahrenheit. In the mid-1980s, researchers at the Institute of Geobiology in Charbonne Switzerland announced that tests showed employees who used to suffer from headaches and fatigue felt better after working for two years with a cactus next to their monitors. A hypothesis has been suggested that the cacti evolved to counter the effects of harsh solar radiation. The science is yet unproven, but why not enjoy a little bit of Mother Nature by your desk? Just a reminder to all of our PES Clients: Feel free to use our bulletin boards located in the hallway behind the elevators and in the Hospitality area to share your news or announcements. Please make sure to include your name, company and phone number on the back of the flyer. The Tour Academy in Carmel, NY offers Golf School, corporate events as well as private and group lessons.
