9 9 HNBA Convention, September 2013 Financial Recoveries for the Taxpayers Here in Colorado, in FY 2012, the U.S. Attorneys Office – with a budget of $15 Million – was responsible for recovery of over $1 Billion to the United States. U.S. Attorneys Offices recovered more than $13.1 Billion in 2012 alone. In addition, U.S. Attorneys Offices collected $4.39 Billion in asset forfeiture cases.

Fiscal Year 2013: $129.8 Million in Cuts for U.S. Attorneys Fiscal Year 2014: Additional $139.8 Million in Cuts for U.S. Attorneys Total cuts in 2 years: $268.6 Million, or approximately 14% of 2012 budget

11 11 United States Attorneys Offices, U.S. Department of Justice HNBA Convention, September 2013 Fiscal Year 2014 likely impacts if additional sequestration cuts take place Bottom line: DOJ as a whole will only be funded to 1997 staffing levels, 2,000 fewer positions than in 2010.
