Astronomy 100 Starlight, Starbright
Star light, star bright First star I see tonight I wish I may, I wish I might Have the wish I wish tonight
ANSWER NOW: (You will turn this in) Write, discuss, sketch, label – somehow communicate your knowledge and understanding of the electromagnetic spectrum. If you dont think you have one, write/discuss/sketch/label a rainbow instead. Tell me everything you can. 1 st GOAL: Understand spectra. – Vocabulary: wavelength, spectra, continuous spectrum, emission spectrum, absorption spectrum, black-body spectrum, electron, energy levels, excited, Doppler effect, red shift, blue shift, metallicity
Different wavelengths are different colors. Different wavelengths are different energies. Different colors are different energies. If you look directly at a heat source – you get ALL POSSIBLE COLORS – continuous spectrum or black body spectrum. If you look at a heated gas you get some colors because its not heat, its excited electrons.
