http://www.wvtec.com A Veteran Owned, HUBZone Certified Small Business Unattended Transient Acoustic MASINT (Army announces greatest Army inventions for 2005 ) U.S. Army Research Laboratory UTAMS is an acoustic localization system based on classic sound ranging principles with advanced and unique signal processing techniques that can detect and isolate transient events such as mortar or rocket firings, munitions impacts, and other explosive events. In its current configuration, each of the UTAMS three to five acoustic sensor arrays independently processes the detected events based on statistics from the signal content against the background noise, computes line-of-bearing to the firing locations, and sends the line-of-bearing information to a central base station laptop computer via a RF radio link. The base station performs source localizations via correlation and triangulation techniques. Due to the short and accelerated schedule, only a crude transient classifier was implemented in UTAMS. ARL is currently developing a more robust classifier that further differentiates between mortar, rocket, RPG and small arm fire events. Page 6

http://www.wvtec.com A Veteran Owned, HUBZone Certified Small Business What is Sentinel Glider-based long endurance aircraft Flies a 600 lbs sensor payload up to 40 hours Achieves long endurance flights by switching between powered and non- powered configurations Built as an optionally piloted vehicle Can be flown with or without an on-board pilot Increases operational use by minimizing FAA/ICAO requirements Reduces operational risks over highly populated cities and congested airspace Reduced Logistical Requirements Take off and land on a 1,500 foot runway Take off on its own power Can be transported in a small truck on a two lane road Fits into a standard general aviation hanger

http://www.wvtec.com A Veteran Owned, HUBZone Certified Small Business Potential Missions Airborne Sensor Testing and Evaluations – Primary Mission Alternative Operational Support Missions: Port, Facility and Border Security Stand Off Threat Surveillance Anti / Counter-Drug Operations Emergency Management Support Support to COIN Operations Support to Law Enforcement National, State, and Local Authorities Support to Clandestine and Covert Operations Geological / Ecological Surveys Communications Support

http://www.wvtec.com A Veteran Owned, HUBZone Certified Small Business Sentinel UAV Mission Sentinels low cost, high endurance, low observable capabilities help fill the intelligence gap on surveillance security missions Improve coverage in remote areas Detecting personnel and vehicle activities Depending on sensor capabilities and mission duration requirements, can detect activities from 2,000 – 30,000 feet Flexible sensor suite can be employed including: oAirborne Surveillance Radar (SAR) oElectro Optical / Infrared Sensors oMulti-spectral / Hyper-spectral Sensors oSIGINT Sensors

http://www.wvtec.com A Veteran Owned, HUBZone Certified Small Business What Makes Sentinel Unique Utilizes the highly efficient German-built commercial glider airframe Has the aerodynamic efficiencies found only in modern gliders Has the ability to quickly switch between powered and non- powered flight Takes advantage of thermals and other updrafts to further its endurance The Glider design facilitates a low cost, low risk conversion to a OPV

http://www.wvtec.com A Veteran Owned, HUBZone Certified Small Business What Makes Sentinel Unique Can be built as an Optional Piloted Vehicle Allows organizations to quickly react to situations and get sensors airborne where unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) flight clearance is problematic Gives organizations the option for an on-board pilot and reduces risks in unique situations oFlights over highly populated areas oFlights in high traffic airspace

http://www.wvtec.com A Veteran Owned, HUBZone Certified Small Business What Makes Sentinel Unique Reduced logistical support Can take off and land on runways as small as 1500 feet Operate from grass fields Be transported by a small truck on two lane roads 1 hour setup time from shipping container to launch Minimal crew requirements o3 operators for missions < 12 hours o6 operators for missions > 12 to +40 hours Be stored in a small general aviation hanger

http://www.wvtec.com A Veteran Owned, HUBZone Certified Small Business Reduced Logistical Support

http://www.wvtec.com A Veteran Owned, HUBZone Certified Small Business Features and Benefits FEATUREBENEFIT Endurance of 80+ hours with advanced engine 40+ hours of endurance with factory installed engine Extended Endurance Capabilities of a larger UAV with the cost of a small UAVCost Effective The glider is silent in soaring configuration Silently flies above and from a target area down to an altitude of 1000 feet Experience shows that humans will hide when they hear aircraft overhead. Takes advantage of thermals and waves to increase enduranceExtended On-station Time Optionally piloted aircraft Can fly with an onboard pilot Allows for more flexibility in FAA controlled airspace Meets FAA requirements for controlled airspace Fits in a small Hanger with wings foldedMinimal facilities required High Altitudes (30,000 – 50,000 MSL) with advanced engine Medium Altitudes (10,000 – 30,000 MSL) Low Altitudes (1000 AGL – 10,000 MSL) Can fly under cloud ceilings silently Flexible Mission capabilities Takeoffs and landings on unimproved fieldsUseful in remote areas

http://www.wvtec.com A Veteran Owned, HUBZone Certified Small Business UAV Comparisons Sentinel Predator B Predator B is built by the U.S. firm General Atomics and is a derivative of the Mariner platform. The Mariner uses a turboprop engine and is built around a composite airframe. With its Max Gross Weight of 10,000 lbs, it can carry enough fuel to operate up to 30+ hours. Sentinel UAV can be built in any country using an FAA certified, powered glider. This exceptionally built composite airframe will allow the Sentinel UAV to achieve extreme endurances of 40+ hours with a Max Gross weight of 2250 lbs.
