1 Life in America During WW II: The Homefront WebQuest By Katherine Yaksich March 31, 2008

2 Introduction Have you ever really wondered what it was like in the United States while World War II was being fought elsewhere in the world? During this WebQuest you will explore and learn what is was like to stay at home during the war through the experiences of the people who stayed here.

3 The Task You will be completing a jigsaw activity along with the rest of your classmates. There will be 3 people in each group and you will decide on a topic or theme that you will become experts on. EX: Entertainment, women in the workforce, women at home, schools, African Americans, Advertisements, the economy, technology, etc. At the end of the WebQuest you will individually complete an essay where you describe which topic was most important to you.

4 Process I will break you into groups of 3 and you will decide on a topic to work on, make sure you come and tell me what you are doing before you start. Investigate the provided websites to find out as much information about your topic as you can find because you will be teaching other people about this. Make sure you take notes and use at least 3 websites. When taking notes remember to answer Who, What, Where, When, Why After we become experts on these topics you will break up into larger groups and teach your classmates the information that you have learned through research. At the end of the WebQuest activity, you will type or write (if you think you can do it very neatly) you notes and hand them in. You will also develop an essay where you will choose your favorite topic that you learned about and explain with at least 3 examples why it was important to you.
