Each MHC molecule can bind a limited set of peptides determined by “anchor residues”
The strong association of HLA-DRB3*0101 with NAIT, and the allogeneic differences between the maternal and fetal platelet antigen, suggests that anti-HPA-1a antibody responses depend on T cells that recognize HPA 1a derived peptide presented by this MHC molecule.
The ability of HPA 1a peptide to associate with this MHC strengthens this notion.
