9 USAR - Rotary Wing USAR - Light FINAS intend to produce certification codes: USAR-RW –based on CS-27 –Italy lead USAR-Light –UAVs < 150kg –France lead

10 Study Human Factors and UAV System Safety FINAS exploring new topic Agree objectives and deliverables Agree approach –analyse UAV accidents –understand HF performance –make recommendations

11 Sense & Avoid Functional Requirements Must consider separation provision & collision avoidance Critically dependent on CONOPS Ambient probability of collision Proposing TLOS = 5 x collisions/flight hr Safety validation needed

12 How can NATO help? NATO is NOT a Regulator but….. Standardisation promotes: –interoperability –economy of effort –mutual trust Why not use our USAR as basis for civil CS- UAV ?
