By Mandy Theis & Caitlin Bludgus
3
Find the top, bottom and sides of your floatie
7
The stars represent the height and the width
The stars represent the height and the width. Now let’s find some additional points!
8
Here is an important point to identify… how far to the left of the edge of the box is it? How far from the bottom?
9
Find the biggest shape with a few big lines. This is called an Envelope. Where are the points of the lines?
10
This is a bad envelope. It has too many lines!
11
This is a good envelope. It has a small number of straight lines that describe the biggest shape.
12
Use follow-through lines to help find important relationships
13
Your drawing should look something like this
14
“THAT’S CRAZY, THIS DOESN’T LOOK LIKE MY SHARK”
15
This may not look like your shark right now….
16
But you now have the structure you need to know where everything goes!
17
Use the structure to put the rest of the lines in where you think they go.
18
Then erase your structural lines.
19
Because you did the work to create a good structure,
you have a proportionate final drawing!
