3 What are the Goals of Connecting? PIE Charter Create community partnerships that expand learning opportunities for R-7 students and are mutually beneficial for the education and business communities. Infusing relevant, interactive experiences for students with the business community that positively reinforce curricular concepts being taught. 4 How to Involve Businesses? We recognize that the types and structures of businesses/organizations in Lees Summit are as diverse as the types of students we have. 10 Other Interesting Fast Facts About PIE Each month, all business partners receive an update from Laura Maxwell detailing PIE activities around the district and opportunities to get involved. Each school year, we focus on integrating curriculum-specific partnership activities in a subject area-this year is Social Studies. Each spring, we celebrate the curricular connections by showcasing samples of student/business partner work prior to the PIE Celebration, which is our annual dinner to thank our 250+ business partners for their contributions throughout the school year.
