BACKGROUND Feasibility study-2000/2001 Pilot project with three hostels: Olien SS, Fauresmith; Tseki ss, Qwaqwa; Moroka HS, Thaba Nchu-2002/2003 Roll out – 2004 to date
OBJECTIVES To provide quality education to farm school learners in well resourced schools in towns where safety is assured. To provide nutritious meals for healthful growth and development To enhance the social, spiritual development of learners from farm school raise their self esteem.

CHALLENGES Inadequate number of suitable hostels Poor workmanship by contractors Lack of parental involvement Overcrowding Curriculum-LOLT Dropout rate Educator/learner ratio (Morkels Model) Apathy of some schools to admit learners from farm schools Bursary for learners to tertiary institutions. Financial Management

ACHIEVEMENTS 22 Hostels are fully operational 2444 learners are accommodated in the 22 hostels 101 learners have completed Grade 12 successfully Sufficient funds are provided for the upkeep of the learners in the hostels Funds are provided for maintenance of the hostels.
