Session Objectives 1. Exchanging experiences, lessons learned, and identifying gaps 2. Reviewing work to date of the INEE Gender Task Team, including tools 3. Identifying next steps for Gender Task Team
Review of Terms Sex: biological state of being male/female Gender: set of characteristics a culture decides is masculine or feminine Gender Equity: ensuring fairness and basic equal rights to women and men (sometimes actions must be taken to compensate for social or historical disadvantages) Gender Equality: The equal valuing by society of both the similarities and differences between women and men & allows both women and men to develop personally and contribute to society to their full potential
How is it Different? Specific focus on emergency & fragility contexts. Look at education supply vs. education demand in these contexts.
