CAN YOU NAME THESE PEOPLE? They are both musicians that are household names, meaning that many people know who they are!
HAVE YOU USED THESE GADGETS? These forms of technology are popular and used all over the world!
ANDY WARHOL WAS INSPIRED BY THE PEOPLE THAT WERE POPULAR WHEN HE WAS ALIVE. LIKE THESE TWO: Marilyn MonroeElvis Presley
HE WAS MOST INSPIRED BY IMAGES THAT WERE FREE TO THE PUBLIC. Meaning the images are mass-produced: photos found in a magazine or book that anyone can look at, taken by a professional photographer.
HERE IS AN EXAMPLE OF A PHOTO TAKEN BY A PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER THAT WAS MASSED- PRODUCED. This is Marilyn Monroe Again.
HERE IS WARHOLS SILK SCREEN PRINTS OF THIS SAME IMAGE:
SILK SCREEN PRINT Warhol creates an image using the silk screen technique. A silkscreen print is very much like a photographic print Use INK to create the image- NOT PAINT
NOW THAT WE KNOW A LITTLE ABOUT THE MEDIA WARHOL USES…
…WE CAN ANALYZE HIS WORK! Look at this work of art: Take a minute to look at the image, then go to the next slide
Warhol uses COLOR in his work, but not in a traditional way. He does not relate the color to an emotion. The color is just color. BUT he does choose a COLOR SCHEME. Warhol uses SHAPES to create the subjects in the composition. What SHAPES can you see? Warhol uses LINES to show movement in the piece. The grass looks like it is moving in the wind.
REVIEW: Warhol uses COLOR but not in a normal way. He does not use color to express an emotion or feeling, like most artists do. He uses SHAPES to create his composition He uses LINES to create movement in this piece SUMMARY: Warhol uses color, shapes, and lines to create the work of art
BEFORE WE DIVE INTO MORE OF HIS WORK, LETS WATCH A VIDEO!

COLOR, COLOR, COLOR! Andy Warhol loves using color in his work You may remember the Color Wheel from the beginning of the year and Color Schemes artists use to help their artwork make sense. One Color Scheme Warhol uses is: Complementary Colors
COMPLEMENTARY COLOR SCHEME Definition: 2 colors that are opposite each other on the color wheel If complementary colors are blended together, they create brown
EXAMPLES OF COMPLEMENTARY COLORS Blue and Orange are complements Red and Green are complements Violet and Yellow are complements
NOW LETS SEE IF YOU CAN PICK THE COMPLEMENT If you click on Blues complement color, you can move on to the next slide! Which is the complement of Blue? Orange Green
THIS ONE ISNT CORRECT Click back and try again!
GOOD JOB! Orange is Blues complement! You are now ready for the quiz! WARNING: You cannot view previous slides past this point, if you would like, take a minute to go back and look at something you may not understand
DIRECTIONS You must answer each question correctly before moving on to the next slide. Good Luck!
