1. Basic philosophy We want the children to be engaged in taking care of the nature To get that engagement, they need to be found of the nature We acchive that by giving them good excperiences troughout the year
2. Goals trough the RENEW-project We want to involve all grades in the project The main focus is at renewable energy, energy saving, and recycling We will take a closer look at three of these projects: 1. Candle campaign 2nd grade 2. Solar energy, 3rd grade. 3. Demo Steinkjer, 6th grade
Candle campaign, 2nd grade A competition between classes in whole of Norway The goal: Collect as many candles as possible Why: Recycle aliminium. Use less energy Homepage (sykler) Homepage
Candle campaign, 2nd grade Our 2nd graders have this month collected 3000 candles They have to remove the part in the middle of the candle, because that is not made by aluminium.
Solar energy, 3rd grade The goal: Learn how we can use solar energy to save the environment Preperations: Learning about solar energy in the classroom
Solar energy, 3rd grade We went to the science center, to the practical work The children got a solar panel and a car They drove the car using a flashlight
Demo Steinkjer, 6th grade The goal: Motivate the children to think smart about energy use, and save the environment. If they think smart, we can avoid bulding more grids and powerplants in the future The consumers will also save money Intro
Demo Steinkjer, 6th grade Why is this important? Norway has the highest consumption of electricity per person in the world The reason for that: Low electricity prices, compared to our wages.
Demo Steinkjer, 6th grade What is Demo Steinkjer? It is a national test project where new solutions for production, transmission, measurement and use of energy are to be tested. Homepage

Demo Steinkjer, 6th grade How will our students be involved? The homes of our students will be getting new electricity meters installed. The students will learn how to use them By using these meters, they will be able to: 1.Measure their power consumption 2.See when prices are high and low 3.Use less energy when prices are high 4.Controll their power consumption trough for instance facebook and their mobile phones
