4 Project Priority Areas Curriculum Innovation Develop new certificate and degree programs Prior Learning Assessments (PLAs) Create portfolio assessments to award credits for work- place learning Enhanced Internships & Placement Services Secure internships and placements for participants Summer Undergraduate Research Program Sustainability

5 Project Goals Accelerate progress for low-skilled and other workers. Improve retention and achievement rates and/or reduce completion time of industry recognized credentials, certificates and degrees. Build programs that meet the industry needs, and develop career pathways. Strengthen online and technology-enabled learning.

6 Project Overview Budget Funding in the amount of $12.1M over three years Target populations TAA eligible Un - and under-employed workers Veterans Target Industry Health Care, Life Sciences (Biotechnology)

7 Project Overview (cont) Goal Create 15 new certificate/degree programs Deliver courses to 2,700 students Assist 675 students in earning 10,000+ PLAs credits Provide 360 internships over three years (statewide) Consortium members 5 Community Colleges: Capital, Gateway, Manchester, Middlesex and Norwalk 2 ConnSCU members: Charter Oak State College & Eastern Connecticut State University

8 Statewide Coordination, Local Choice Each of the colleges build new and/or redesigned accelerated programs in health and life sciences industry sectors Statewide system integration Statewide curriculum Developmental education = College Readiness Local choice to meet local needs
