3 3 Reference date: 1 st March 2011 Period Enumeration: from 1 st – 31 st March Introduction Economic Census was conducted in 2011 It is the first Census in the history of Cambodia

4 4 To provide the fundamental statistics on the current status of the business activities of the establishment and enterprises. To provide the directories of the establishments and enterprises as the master sampling frame of various sample survey on businesses Purpose of the Census

5 5 All kind of establishments are included in the Census Industrial Classification: ISIC Rev. 4 Establishments classified below sections are excluded: 1- Section A: Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing 2- Section O: Public administration and defense, compulsory social security 3- Section T: Activities of households as employers; undifferentiated goods and services-producing activities of households for own use. 4- Section U: Activities of extraterritorial organizations and bodies Coverage of the Census

7 7 Type of Establishments in Cambodia Street Business Home Business Business in Apartment Building Business in Traditional Market Business in Modern Shopping Mall Business in Exclusively one block or one Building 7 The Establishment can be defined as an economic unit that engages, under a single ownership or control, in one or predominantly one, kind of economic activity at a single physical location (followed UN). 5-Enumeration Unit

8 8 6-Method of Enumeration 3) In case that the enumeration does not finish due to the refusal of establishment until the end of March 2011, Special Survey Team carried out the enumeration. 1) The enumerator visits each establishment within a certain enumeration area, interviews the owner or manager of the establishment or his/her substitute who is entitled to represent the establishment, and fill in the Census Form. 2) In addition to this, the self-enumeration method can be applied to the establishment, which requests to fill in the form by themselves.

Amount of sale and operating expense per day in recent month and number of working day. 17. Total amount of assets at the end of year Total amount of Equity held at the end of year Total amount of Non-current liability at the end of year Total amount of Current liability at the end of year Amount of revenue and expense in a year 2010 under Accrual basic accounting which records revenue and related expenses in the same period. 12- Census Form (cont.)

16 16 - For Establishments without the Balance Sheet or Income statement (Q1-Q16). - For Establishments kept the Balance Sheet or Income statement (Q1-Q21), except Q16. - For Establishments as a branch office (Q1-Q11). 13- Filling-in Census Form
