6 Draft Ballot Language For November 4, 2014 To improve education at John Swett High School and Carquinez Middle School by finishing John Swett High repairs and replacing (refurbishing) Carquinez School to provide 21st century learning, improve student safety, and become eligible for millions of State dollars, shall John Swett Unified School District issue $52,000,000 in bonds at interest rates within statutory limits, appoint a citizens oversight committee, conduct annual audits, and spend funds only on facility upgrades, with NO money for salaries? Limit 75 words

8 Superintendents Recommendation A new Carquinez School will enhance student learning and safety A new school will incorporate advanced 21 st century technology needed for students to obtain jobs Teachers will have adequate space to teach Children will have adequate space to learn Children will be safe entering and exiting school A new modern building will withstand earthquakes and have appropriate fire and life safety systems Handicapped children will be accommodated and welcomed by a modern building A new school is affordable A new school will attract students and help prevent future enrollment declines As part of our plan, we will finish John Swett High School When we are done all four of our schools will have been replaced or upgraded so that our educational facilities are modern, safe, meet 21 st century learning needs and are welcoming. I recommend the board to place a bond on the November 2014 ballot to finish John Swett HS repairs and a build a new Carquinez Middle School
