Types of Consumer Goods Two Classification
Industrial Goods –Products designed to be used by other businesses –May be in the creation of new products or the operation of business
Consumer Goods –Used for personal use or home use. –Four categories of Consumer Goods
Convenience Goods Generally inexpensive Bought without a great deal of thought Widely distributed
Shopping Goods –Purchased less frequently –Usually have a higher price –Less widely distributed
Specialty Goods –Product or brand specifically desired by consumers –Customers are willing to search for desired product or brand –Prices tend to be higher
Unsought Goods –Products or services that consumers do not have strong need or desire for. –Only when customer recognizes the need with the product be sold
