6 WHAT CHANGES?? Many changes in Physical, Cognitive (thinking processes) and Social/Emotional PHYSICAL Body Changes! (Weight, Muscle Mass, Strength) … need more food and sleep! COGNITIVE Preteen concrete thinkers (Black & white) etc. Maturity = understanding complex issues, even when they dont agree YOU MAY SEE MORE ARGUING – RATIONILIZING THEIR NEEDS (new phone, curfew etc.) Arguing becomes more sophisticated – wears you down! Check teachers websites for HW, messages and grades. Contact teachers first with questions about expectations, problems, or for extra help. Recommendations will be made by their current case-manager for placement in appropriate classes at the middle school.
