3 THINK SAFETY Get up early and be prepared. New travel arrangements can cause difficulties, so allow yourself plenty of time to get to school. Travel conditions can change depending on the time of day. Often crossing the road is most dangerous before and after school in the winter when the weather is bad. You could wear something reflective to make you stand out but also cross the road carefully. Never run or cross the road whilst using a mobile phone or listening to music.

7 Stop Find the safest place to cross then stop. Stand on the pavement near the kerb or the edge if there is no kerb. Look Give yourself lots of time to have a good look all around. Make sure you can see if anything is coming and drivers can see you. Listen Listen carefully because you can sometimes hear traffic before you can see it. Never cross the road whilst chatting to people, listening to your iPod or talking on your mobile phone. When it is safe to cross, walk straight across the road. Do not walk diagonally. Keep looking and listening for traffic while you cross.

27 Now complete p.24 of your Pupils Booklets Remember to work out how long it will take you to get to Valley Park and what to do if you miss the bus, loose your bus pass or wake up late! Work out your morning routine so that you always have enough time to get ready, pack your bag, have breakfast, get to school on time etc!

39 Scenario 3 You have been on the new planet for many days; the food rations that you brought with you are running out. People are hungry and therefore tensions are rising. Arguments are beginning to start between colony members. If issues are not resolved soon, the new community will fall apart.
