Positive Behavior Intervention Strategies PBIS
Mission Statement Positive Behavior Intervention Strategies (PBIS) are utilized in schools to maintain a positive, self-motivated atmosphere. The mission of Park Views PBIS is to establish PRIDE at Park View. PRIDE is the acronym for Pride, Responsibility, Initiative, Determination, Etiquette. The goal is to have our students demonstrate Park View PRIDE!
The accepted norm for disciplining a problem students is punishment, and if the students continue to misbehave suspension or expulsion. A lot of effort is put on punishing the negative. Many students do the right thing every day. The focus of PBIS is to acknowledge and reinforce the positive, while continuing to consequence the negative. The more positive reinforcement kids get, the likelihood of that behavior increasing goes up, the hope is to strike a balance between the positive and negative.
