2. Childhood obesity is a rising epidemic 30% of the pediatric population has a BMI of 30% or greater Co-morbidities: diabetes, asthma, cardiovascular disease, low self-esteem, depression 2

3. In February 2010, the AAP teamed up with the White House, Bright Futures, & other national organizations to reverse childhood obesity, and launched the AAP Obesity Initiative and Lets Move! Campaign. Together they made the ambitious goal to reverse childhood obesity within a generation, to give children born today a healthier future tomorrow. 3 Overview

4. Each year the AAP SOMSRFT (Section of Medical Students, Residents, & Fellowship Trainees) launches a national advocacy campaign. This year we have launched Team Healthy, our national campaign to reverse childhood obesity. Through this we are teaming up with the AAP Obesity Initiative and First Ladys Lets Move!
