3 Clinic services Four Health Clinics staffed by nurses, offering the following by appointment on specific days:- Hypertensive / Diabetic clinic Blood pressure and blood sugar screening Weight, height and body mass index (BMI) Foot inspection Advice and referral Nutrition and dietary counseling

4 Child health clinic for under fives Weight and height Health review Nutrition / health counseling Immunization Developmental assessment

5 Reproductive health Antenatal/Postnatal clinic Family planning Free pap smears by appointment Breast examination HIV counseling and testing

6 Other clinic services Dressings three days per week Treatment of minor ailments District Medical Officers clinic (strictly by appointment) Eye care and other specialist Clinics (occasional) Hearing Testing

7 Outreach activities Home visits to housebound elderly, antenatal, postnatal, clinic dropouts School Health Program Nursery schools and day care centre visits for rapid inspection

8 Environmental Health Vector control Food safety and sanitation inspection Information and advice re environmental problems Dental clinic Free dental treatment for children, over 60s and other exempt groups (Montserratian)

9 Health Promotion Information and education on healthy lifestyles and other health issues, including weekly radio programme Talking Health Collaboration with other sectors and the community in the promotion of positive good health Coordination of inter-sectoral health activities Mental Health Promotion of positive mental health Diagnosis, treatment and follow up of persons with mental health problems Outreach activities for the mentally challenged

10 HIV/AIDS Coordination Coordination of all aspects of HIV/AIDS and STIs including:- Prevention Voluntary counseling and testing Treatment and care Prevention of stigma and discrimination Cervical cancer prevention

12 General medical and surgical wards Obstetric (maternity) ward Medical and surgical outpatients clinics Operating theatre Casualty Nurse on 24 hour duty Doctor on call Ambulance service

13 More hospital departments and services X-ray Department Laboratory Pharmacy (Open 9am – 1pm) Dietary counseling by appointment Physiotherapy Visiting specialists (occasional) Referral to regional specialists as needed Emergency air ambulance service

14 Care of older persons New Margetson Home Residential and nursing home care Forms part of hospital complex Golden Years Home Residential care for older persons Run by Golden Years Foundation Warden assisted housing, Lookout Residential accommodation for older persons who can help themselves under supervision. Run by Community Services Department. Please note: These facilities have very limited places, and priority is given to those with greatest need.
