2013 Capacity Building Grant Program Opportunities October 3, 2012
ACT Capacity Building Grant Program ACT supports and encourages nonprofit excellence and strengthens leadership within nonprofits by investing in infrastructure based programs and organizational needs. This years grant opportunities include: Strategy Implementation Grants Compass Micro Project Grants ACT has given out more than $500,000 in capacity building grants since 2005.
Strategy Implementation Grants Strategy Implementation Grants support nonprofits seeking to implement capacity building or strengthening measures within their organizations. These tangible activities must be linked to identified needs* within the organization including: Strengthening executive and board leadership Strategic marketing and communication planning Fund development planning Promoting effective planning and assessment Mergers, succession planning or other restructuring efforts Improving financial management *Applicants must provide evidence of a need – usually in the form of a documented strategic plan. If no plan exists, applicants are strongly encouraged to apply for one. Awards will be given for requests up to $15,000 – average awards will be in the $5,000 - $10,000 range.

Eligibility Applicants must be a 501 (c) (3) organization. Nonprofit organizations must serve the needs of Alexandria residents, with priority consideration given to organizations serving the needs of low-income populations, especially children and families. Organizations may only apply for one Strategy Implementation Grant request.
Grant Application Process LOI Applications are available on October 3 rd – online at www.actforalexandria.org. We are using Survey Monkey to collect applications – http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/actgrantloiapplication2013 www.actforalexandria.org http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/actgrantloiapplication2013 LOI Applications are due by 4:00 p.m., Friday, October 19, 2012. Organizations invited to submit a full proposal will be notified by October 29, 2012 and sent a link with the application materials. Full proposals will be due at 4:00 p.m. on November 16, 2012. Late submissions will not be considered
Compass Micro Project Grants Projects include: Board Development, Strategic Alignment, Funding Strategy, and Strategic Partnerships Applications will be available online on October 15 th – link will be posted on ACT & Compass web sites. Applications are due December 6 th
