8 HAART-RELATED REDUCED HIV CONCERN =.90 Consistent safer sex is less important now that drug combinations may help prevent infection after someone has been exposed to HIV..81 I am less concerned about having anal sex without a condom now that new drug combination treatments are available..81 It would be more difficult for an HIV-positive person to infect his partner through unsafe sex if he is taking the new drug combination treatments..71 By taking the new drug combinations, an HIV-positive man decreases the chances that he will infect his partners with HIV..71 AIDS prevention programs are becoming less important because of new combination drug treatments..70 HIV is now a controllable disease like diabetes..53 The new AIDS combination drugs make me less anxious about unprotected sex..60

9 PREVENTION MESSAGE FATIGUE =.80 Messages about safe sex are all beginning to sound the same to me..68 After seeing them for years, safe sex brochures and pamphlets seem repetitive..67 People I know are burned out on safe sex campaigns..55 At this point, Ive heard that using condoms prevents AIDS more than I ever needed to..53 I am weary of hearing how important it is to use condoms..50

10 CONDOM BENEFITS =.87 Condoms make me feel safe from syphilis and other STDs..75 Using condoms shows concern and caring for partners..74 Condoms make me feel safe from AIDS..72 Using condoms makes me feel like a more responsible person..71 CONDOM BARRIERS =.87 Condoms reduce sexual pleasure.
