Long Division of Money Long division is as simple as memorizing the people in this family. DadMomSisterBrother Rover

Long Division of Money Each person represents a step in the long division process. Dad Mom Sister Brother Rover 1. Divide 2. Multiply 3. Subtract 4. Bring down 5. Repeat or Remainder

Step 1 in Long Division Divide 3 into first number in the dividend. 3 ) Think how many 3s will fit into 7. 2 How many 3s will go into 7? Write that number directly above the number you divided into. Dad 1. Divide

Money Step Place the decimal point next to the 2. 3 ) You are doing just fine! Notice that the decimal is directly above the decimal in the dividend..

Step 2 in Long Division Multiply the divisor times the first number in the quotient. 3 ) Write your answer directly under the 7 or the number you just divided into. 2 3 x 2 = 6 2. Multiply Mom 6.

Step 3 in Long Division Draw a line under the 6. 3 ) Write a subtraction sign next to the Subtract 6 Sister Subtract 6 from 7. Write your answer directly below the 6. 1.

Step 4 in Long Division Go to the next number in the dividend to the right of the 7. 3 ) Write an arrow under the Bring down 6 Bring the 3 down next to the 1. 1 Brother 3.

Step 5 in Long Division This is where you decide whether you repeat the 5 steps of division. 3 ) If your divisor can divide into your new number, 13, or if you have numbers in the dividend that have not been brought down, you repeat the 5 steps of division Repeat or Remainder 6 13 Rover.

Step 1 in Long Division Divide 3 into your new number, ) Place your answer directly above the 3 in your quotient Divide 6 13 Dad 4.

Step 2 in Long Division Multiply your divisor, 3, with your new number in the quotient, 4. 3 ) Place your answer directly under the Multiply Mom 12

Step 3 in Long Division Draw a line under the bottom ) Draw a subtraction sign Subtract Sister Subtract & place answer under the line. 1.

Step 4 in Long Division Put an arrow under the next number, 8, in the dividend. 3 ) Bring the 8 down next to the Bring down Brother 8.

Step 5 in Long Division If the 3 will divide into your new number, 18, then repeat the steps of division. 3 ) Repeat or Remainder Rover.

Step 1 in Long Division Divide your divisor, 3, into your new number, ) Divide Dad Place your answer in the quotient next to the 4. 6.

Step 2 in Long Division Multiply your divisor, 3, by your new number in the quotient, 6. 3 ) Multiply Place your answer under your new number, Mom 8. 1

Step 3 in Long Division Draw a line under the number ) Subtract Place your subtraction sign. 6 8 Sister Subtract & put your answer directly under the

Step 4 in Long Division Look at your dividend to see if there are any more numbers to bring down. 3 ) Bring down If not, move to step 5. 0 Brother. 1

Step 5 in Long Division Since there are no more numbers to bring down & 3 will not divide into 0, you do not repeat the steps of division. 3 ) Repeat or Remainder There is no remainder left. 0 Rover. 1

Money Step Place the dollar sign in front of your answer. 3 ) $

You did it! Youre so smart! Youre awesome! Cool Dude! Wolf!. 1 $
