Oscar Dela Hoya My name is a Aris and I am going to talk about Oscar Dela Hoya who is a World Boxing Champion today. I chose him because he had gone through many obstacles in life to get him where he is today. I am going to talk about his childhood, career, accomplishments, lifestyle, and goals.
Childhood n Oscar grew up in a tough East L.A. n He was bullied around as a kid and would not fight bac, instead he would run home crying. n His father a former pro fighter got oscar into boxing to defend himself. n At age 7 he put on the gloves for the first time and took boxing seriously. n As an amateur he had gained 223 fights and lost only 5 of them.
Life Story n In 1990 Oscar had made it to the goodwill games in Seattle. His mother who had breast cancer at that time, delayed a radiation treatment to see him win the championship. She died of the cancer later that year at the age of 38. Oscar fulfilled a promise to her by winning a gold metal at the Barcelona Olympics in n Soon after the Olympics, he had turned Pro.
Accomplishment n In just 20 fights, Oscar became the undefeated Lightweight champion of the World. n His career took of after beating the legendary Julio Caesar Chavez a Mexican fighter who was Oscars boyhood ideal. n Today he is undefeated with 29 win 0 losses (24 by KOs) n He now holds 4 championship beltsin different weight divisions n According to Boxing Association, he is the best pound for pound boxer.
Lifestyle n When Oscar is not training at Big Bear Lake, California. He goes to his home in Whitter, California in a modest townhouse which he had designed. n Oscar is a muli-millionare, last year he had grossed up to 32 million dollars. n He had used his time and money generously to help less fortunate children in his community, seting an admirable example for others to follow. n Oscar had bought his old gym in East L.A. For where he used to train, so that it would help get the kids of the streets and participate in boxing. n
Goals n His goals is to fight maybe two more years and capture 6 championship belts. n After his career in boxing, he was thinking of getting into acting.
