4 The Two Inch UV Rule For those who are not familiar with this term, here is a quick summary. 5 Sanuvox In-Duct Purifiers Sanuvox In-Duct UV Air Purifiers (R1500X, R3500X and C2000X) are extremely efficient. The In-Duct Purifiers are relatively small in size (the C2000X, Sanuvoxs largest Commercial In-Duct UV Air Purifier measures 20 x 9). 6 Size DOES Matter How does the UV Bio-Wall treat ALL the air in the duct at one time? Because the UV Bio-Wall is designed to treat all the air in the duct, Sanuvox can not slow ALL the air down as it travels over the lamp. To compensate for NOT slowing the air down, the Bio-Wall MUST deliver an extremely high amount of UV over a much greater distance. 8 Sanuvox Lamps are Quartz glass not Soft glass. Quartz glass produces higher levels of UV Intensity and have a longer operating life than Soft Glass. The Lamps are special Hi-Intensity Quartz Lamps, which produce higher UV intensity than typical Quartz Lamps. Sanuvox Lamps are 19 mm in diameter, not 15 mm like other UV manufacturers. 10 The Bio-Wall increases its intensity through the use of Reflection. The same way a flashlight or car's headlight uses a reflector to intensify and direct light. 12 How does the Bio-Wall increase the TIME the contaminants spend in contact with the UV Lamp? a)The longer the UV Lamp, the more time the contaminants spend in contact with the UV Energy. This compensates for the fact that Sanuvox is not slowing the air down as it passes over the lamp. b) To increase the dwell time (the time the contaminant is in contact with the UV Energy), the purifier is mounted parallel to the air-stream not perpendicular, maximizing the time the contaminant is in contact with the UV lamp. sanuvox technologies inc. Dwell Time That's what the Bio-Wall is designed to do. Increase the TIME the contaminant is in contact with the Lamp so it can be irradiated by the UV Energy. The more time in front of the lamp, the higher the UV dosage the contaminant receives, the higher the kill.

14 Example: For a 94% kill in a 36 x 36 duct, with the air 700 FPM. The % Kill is based on Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The UV Bio-Wall is 60 inches long. Generic Bio-Hazard Installation on a 36 x CFM For a Biohazard installation, each Bio-Wall should be installed 9 inches from the duct walls. Each Bio-Wall will be 18 center to center from an adjacent Bio-Wall. Biological contaminants vary in UV dosage needed to destroy them. Calculations are based on contaminant's individual UV dosage required, air velocity, duct size, intensity and length of Bio-Wall.
