2 What is BowTie Pro™? BowTie Pro™ is a technically advanced yet easy to use tool to facilitate the creation of risk assessments. 4 What is a bow-tie diagram?
Knot= Hazard and hazardous event (What we don’t want to happen) This is a bow-tie diagram Left Hand = Threats that will cause the hazardous event Right Hand = Consequences outcomes from the hazardous event Risk Assessment The Story = Controls Left Hand Side Protection Right hand side mitigation

11 Assessing the Risk The risk can be easily assessed by selecting a category, e.g. People, and then selecting an item from the risk matrix on the consequence screen. The results of the matrix selection are displayed in the consequence box on the diagram The categories and the matrix can be fully configured to meet your needs

Controls can be entered on both sides of the event. The controls tell us how we will manage the problem.
