Online Lecturing How to setup/create up a blog site for your lectures. Nnannah C. James
WordPress.com The blogging infrastructure to use for the project is wordpress.com. The instructions here are specifically for that site. Navigate to www.wordpress.comwww.wordpress.com Click the sign up now orange coloured button
Wordpress.com Fill the form displayed by filling in: Your Username which can be any name without spaces in between that you can easily remember. If you filled in jamiechris as your username then your blog address will be jamiechris.wordpress.com Your password which should not be forgettable. It should be a mixture of text and numbers
Add your email address. This should be one that is already operational. It is very important. Legal flotsam. Just check the box Choose the Gimme a blog! radio button Hit the Next button
Wordpress.com The next page shows: The blog domain. This is the address of your blog. Eg. Jamiechris.wordpress.com. At this stage it could still be changed to something else of your choice. The blog title. The infrastructure automatically assigns a default name to your blog. Using our example, the blogs name is rendered as jamiechris blog. You are therefore to rename the blog with a generic name to suit the subjects or courses you are teaching.
Wordpress.com Finally, Hit the Signup button. The infrastucture automatically sends a mail to that mail address you earlier indicated. To activate your account that mail must be read and the link should be clicked to activate the account. On clicking the link in the mail box, you are led back to the wordpress.com site.
Wordpress.com On the site, click the login button Fill in the username and password you created a while ago into the form displayed. This should lead you into the admin (dashboard) area of your blog site. Your blog site is thus setup successfully!
Wordpress.com: Your first Post! Click on posts then categories under posts to setup new categories which represents the courses you are teaching. Then click on add new under posts to post a new lecture. Add a title and then the content of your blog post or lecture then specify the category and hit the publish button. The post is thus made live. Click on the Get a short link button to copy the link and send it to all the students concerned via email.
Your first post! This short link is the link address to this particular lecture post on your blog. Enjoy!
