1. Our country is situated in central Europe. Poland has 7 neibours. In southern Poland we have mountains an in northern- sea. In our contry we have a lot of lakes and forests. We are a few bigger cities. Toruń is a city in northern Poland, on the Vistula river. Toruń

2. This is the coat of arms of Toruń. We have the angel, who is holding the gate of walls of Old Town. One part of the gate is opened for friends, second one is closed for enemies. The angel guards our town. Toruń coat of arms

3. Toruń is one of the best known cities in Poland. It has long history, convenient location and monuments of famous people whose work and life influenced on the image of the modern city. One of them is pope John Paul II. I think that all of you know him very well.

5. Here we have Nicolaus Copernicus, who was an astronomer. He was born in Torun (1473) and was the author of a heliocentric (sun-centered) theory of the solar system.

6. In Toruń we have many gothic buildings, all build from brick. These are monumental churches, the Town Hall and many houses which we can see in the Old Town. In 1997 Toruń was listed on the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites. We see Town Hall where the museum is now. We can go up on the tower, where we can see beautifull panorama of Toruń.

7. Toruń cathedral of Saint John the Baptiser and Saint John the Evangelist is the oldest gothic church in Toruń. Nicolaus Copernicus was baptised there. In the cathedral there is a massive 7 tonne bell hung in the tower. It is one of the biggest bells in Poland and its named Tuba Dei" means "Gods Trumpet".

8. Rafters Monument is located in the western part of the Old Town Marketplace. The monument refers to a legend, which tells of a rafter who, with his beautiful playing, enchanted frogs residing in the town and led them outside the town walls.

9. In our town we have University of Nicolaus Copernicus. This is one of the most respected universities in Poland. It is the largest university in northern Poland with many different faculties.

10. Toruń is well- known city in Poland because of gingerbread.Its the most famous product made in Toruń. Not only the sophisticated taste, but also the shapes earned Toruń biscuits international fame.

11. In the picture we see Leaning Tower in Torun. The medieval city tower was named after its significant tilt (1.46m).

12. Planetarium in Toruń was opened in 1994. While watching the sessions, spectators have the feeling of being in the space, in a few minutes they can visit the moon.

13. Gingerbread Avenue of Stars was an idea of the inhabitants of Toruń to honour the most important people from Poland. There are bronze gingerbreads on the pavement with signatures of famous people. The name of the avenue - Gingerbread - is connected with the most recognisable symbol of the town.
