Mount Rushmore National Memorial Mount Rushmore National Memorial is a sculpture created by Gutzon Borglum in a granite mountain near Keystone, SD, USA. It portrays the heads of four US presidents - George Washington (1732–1799), Thomas Jefferson (1743–1826), Theodore Roosevelt (1858–1919), and Abraham Lincoln (1809–1865) – and is one of the most famous sites in the United States. Originally the presidents were to be carved from head to waist, but due to extensive costs this idea has been abounded and only 18 meter (60 feet) heads were created.
