Essential key element of CMTS-CABLE Modem Synchronization. Safecom INGRESS GATE technology (Patent p)
Noise in the cable network is one of the greatest hurdles to applying superior, high-speed data, DOCSIS 3.0 services, requiring high integrity signal transmission. Noise ingress reduces network capacity. Removing noise is the greatest challenge faced by Cable operators as they seek to migrate to 64 QAM and eventually to 256 QAM digital modulations.
Ingress noiseOver-the-air signals (2-ways radio, Off-Air, FM, Electrical noise, etc.) that are inadvertently coupled into the nominally closed coaxial cable distribution system. Ingress noise is difficult to track down and is intermittent in nature. As much as 80% to 90% of noise and ingress on the plant is generated at the Subscriber site. Ingress Noise? Perhaps an obvious question?
Funneling Effect Funneling Effect shows the structural defect of the last two way signal over coax part. It limits performance of the network, and conceals the superiority of the CMTS-CM Mode.
Solving the Funneling Effect Principle of solving Funneling Effect by ingress Gate technology: 1.Cable Modem sends back RF signal use TDM model. 2.Each Cable Modems upload time and time slot assignment are controlled accurately by CMTS. 3.At any given time, only one Cable Modem upload signal can take place in the CABLE system. 4.Ingress Gate opens upstream channel only when Cable modem is transmitting. 5.Ingress Gate keeps all other upstream paths closed, therefore only one path at a time can transmit a signal to CMTS.
Disconnect from the tap and plug the drop cable directly into the meter. This provides a spectral view of what is getting onto the upstream path from building and transmitting back up the network. Use the 5-65 MHz band. Upstream Ingress Noise Test
Why Ingress Protection? Enables full network capacity utilization on the upstream. Enhances VoIP, DOCSIS and advanced services deployment. Improves Quality & Service. Reduces Operational Expenses (OPEX) for Ingress detection and suppression.
Safecoms IngressGate Patent P. technology Gateway that allows carrier signals from the premises into the network only when the home device is actively transmitting to the upstream Based on the burst nature of the upstream and the random presence of ingress noise The technology is embedded into Safecoms home amplifiers No need for expensive investment in ingress monitoring systems Results in dramatic reduction of the ingress levels No adverse effect on upstream and downstream signals Future implementation into Directional Couplers (DC) situated at the far end of the network, close to the customer premises
Suggested Changes Add upstream spectrum test to each home installation. All ingress noise from 5 to 45 MHz must be lower than 30dB V. If ingress above design level, simply replace regular home amplifier with safecom IGDA model, Ingress Noise will immediately reduce by min 15dB. If there is no home amplifier installed simply use Passive forward INGRESS GATE 5dB return for blocking all ingress noise from premises.
Cost-effective Patent P. technology for ingress suppression No need for expensive monitoring or useless detection Simple integration outdoor or indoor Plug and play device Best performance in the market Drop amplifier integration Passive Forward/Return available Upstream Ingress Protection with RF Active forward/return gain

Safecoms IngressGate (Patent p.) vs Opposite Phase IngressGate Solution Patent p. Opposite Phase concept. Operates as upstream gate that opens only when the modem transmits. Opposite phase merging.Technology Full dB ingress isolation. Partial 0- 6 dB only ingress reduction. Effectiveness Based on the burst nature of the return path. Assumes ingress noises are at the same phase or from the same source. Operating principle Solves and blocks all ingress noise from customer premises. Cannot solve ingress problems from customer premises. Solution
