**Writing Equations from Tables**

Mrs. Kuznia Math 8 Day 54

2
**Objective Given a table of x and y values, we can write an equation.**

We do this by looking for patterns!!

3
**Example x y 2 1 4 6 3 8 10 We need to use y= mx+b.**

2 1 4 6 3 8 10 We need to use y= mx+b. We need to determine 2 pieces, the m and the b. How do we get the m? Look in the y colums for a pattern. This is the m. How do we get the b? Find the 0 in the x column, and match it with the y-value.

4
Continued x y 2 1 4 6 3 8 10

5
Example x y 10 1 6 2 3 -2 4 -6

6
Example x y 5 1 10 2 15 3 20 4 25

7
Example x y 2 3 6 4 9 5 12 15

8
**Use the table to graph the appropriate line**

Use the table to graph the appropriate line. Then, give the equation of the line. x y -2 1 -4 2 -6 3 -8 4 -10
