Presentation on theme: "CLOGHER VALLEY SURESTART CELEBRATED 10 YRS IN 2011."— Presentation transcript:

2 WHAT IS SURESTART? The SS Programme was a Labour Government Initiative rolled out in Northern Ireland in 2000. It aimed to provide better more holistic services designed around the child and the family. There is evidence that early intervention and support reduces family breakdown, strengthens childrens readiness for school and benefits society as a whole. The SureStart model puts emphasis on preventive action.

3 HIGH LEVEL OUTCOMES SureStart uses an outcome focused approach. There are 6 High level outcomes: 1.Being Healthy 2.Enjoying Learning and Achieving 3.Living in Safety and Stability 4.Experiencing economic and environmental well being 5.Contributing positively to community and society 6.Living in a society that respects rights

4 WHO FUNDS SURESTART? In 2008 the responsibility for childrens services including SureStart, transferred from the Department of Health and Social Services and Public Safety to the Department of Education.
