Student Resources – Downtown Visitors Resource Center The Visitors Center is located off campus in the Wharf District at One Waterfront Place. Student Accounts The Office of Student Accounts (Bursars Office) is located in the basement of Stewart Hall in room B-33. Billing and account questions regarding tuition, room and board are covered by this office. Academic Resources Center The Academic Resource Centers are an excellent way for students to receive free, walk-in tutoring for many subjects offered at West Virginia University. The University currently operates three Academic Resource Centers throughout the week. The center in Arnold Hall is open Sun-Wed 7-11 p.m. and services are also available during WVUp All Night in the Mountainlair Thu-Sat 7 p.m.- midnight. Admissions and Records Admissions & Records is located in Colson Hall, at the corner of University Ave. and Hough St. on the downtown campus. Whether you're applying to the University, adding or dropping classes, or requesting copies of your transcript, Admissions and Records is available to assist your needs. Financial Aid The Financial Aid Office is located on the second floor of the Mountainlair. It helps students obtain grants, loans, employment, work-study opportunities, or scholarships to help cover the costs of attending the university. Undergraduate Advising The Undergraduate Academic Services Center (UASC) is located in the Student Services Center behind the bookstore and across from Oglebay Hall. Writing Center The Writing Center is located in 44 Stansbury Hall and is open Mon-Thu 10-5 p.m. and Fri from 10-3 p.m. You can call ahead to see if a tutor is available at x Student Support Services SSS and the TRIO program are located in 215 Student Services Center. First- generation college students, income eligible students, and students with disabilities are supported. WVU Bookstore The WVU Bookstore is located next to the Mountainlair. It is open from 8:30-5:30 Mon-Thur, 8:30-4:45 Fri, and 10-3 Sat. In the summer, it closes at 4:30 on weekdays. Career Services Center The Career Services Main Office is in the Student Organization Wing of the Mountainlair above the Bookstore. Individual career planning sessions can assist students in choosing a major, and the office also helps students and alumni explore employment and graduate school opportunities. Freshmen can learn more about the Career Success Academy. Libraries The main library complex is located downtown. It is open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mon-Thur, 8-5 Fri, 9-5 Sat, and 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sun during the school year. The library offers term paper clinics for undergraduates. The Math Library is located in Armstrong room 421. It is open 9-5 Mon-Fri. Computer Labs The downtown computer lab is located at the University side of White Hall. The Office of Information Technology (OIT) periodically offers training classes on the 3 rd floor. Printing Services The downtown copy center is located on the first floor of the Mountainlair. It is open from 8:15 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Mon-Fri; hours are shorter during the summer. Mountaineer Card Office The main campus office for student IDs is located on the main floor of the Mountainlair and operates Mon-Fri 12:30-4:30 p.m. The Mountaineer Card is a photo ID card and Mountie Bounty debit card and provides access to WVU Dining Services, the PRT, MountainLine buses, WVU Libraries, Student Health, athletic events, select campus vending machines, campus laundry facilities, the Student Rec Center, and the computer labs. Student Life The Office of Student Life in Elizabeth Moore Hall provides an umbrella of services for all students and specializes in problem solving to help students achieve success. Office of International Students and Scholars OISS, located in Elizabeth Moore Hall, serves as a link to students and research scholars from over 90 countries around the world. Office of International Programs The Office of International Programs at G-15 White Hall promotes the internationalization of teaching, research, and service at WVU through study abroad programs and collaborative international research. Center for Civic Engagement The Center for Civic Engagement at 109 White Hall helps raise consciousness of the importance of civic engagement for an educated, democratic citizenry. The Center develops and organizes service learning and volunteer opportunities for students and faculty and has many community partners. Carruth Center for Counseling and Psychological Services The Carruth Center is on the 3 rd floor of the Student Services Building and is open Mon-Fri 8:15-4:45 p.m. Individual, group, and couples counseling is available. The Walk-In Counseling Clinic is available Mon-Fri 9-4 p.m. The telephone crisis consultation service is Disability Services The Office of Disability Services is located in Room G-30 of the Mountainlair. The office currently has two counselors on staff to provide accommodations and serve other disability related needs to the WVU community. Student Legal Services Student Legal Services in Elizabeth Moore Hall provides legal advice and representation to eligible students. SLS also educates students about their legal rights and responsibilities, helps students with a variety of legal issues, and refers students as necessary. Student Resources – Evansdale Mountaineer Card Office The Evansdale office for student IDs is located in G-118 Bennett Tower and is open Mon-Fri 8:15-4:45. The ERC Computing Lab is in the basement of Bennett Tower in the Evansdale Residential Complex (ERC). Free Parking The only free parking on campus is at the Coliseum. Parking is limited during home games. A shuttle runs every min. between stops at the Coliseum and the Engineering PRT station. Most restricted lots allow free parking weekends, holidays, and after 5 p.m. Mon-Fri. Libraries The Evansdale Library is located across from the Agricultural Sciences Building. Copy machines and scanners allow students to copy articles or .pdf versions to their MIX accounts. Computers are available for internet access and research. During the school year, the Evansdale Library is open 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mon-Thur, 8-5 Fri, 9-5 Sat, and 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sun. The Health Sciences Library has the same hours except it is open Sun 1-9 p.m. It is located on the second floor of the Health Sciences Center. The Law Library is on the second floor of the Law Center and is open 9-8 Mon-Fri, 9-6 Sat, and 12-6 p.m. Sun. Dining Café Evansdale is a full cafeteria in Towers open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mon-Thur, 7-7 Fri, and 9-6:30 Sat-Sun. Bits & Bytes, located in room G-69 of the Engineering Sciences Building, offers a variety of sandwiches and snacks. It is open 7:30-3:30 Mon-Fri. The Brew & Gold Café in Braxton Tower has coffee, sandwiches, and snacks and is open 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mon-Fri. The Lyons Den in Lyon Tower has fresh pizza, sandwiches, and snacks. It is open 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. Sun-Thur. The Sports Café offers snacks and drinks in the Rec Center and is open 11-9 Mon- Fri. Printing Services Copy centers are located in the Communications Building on Patteson Drive, next to the ground-floor cafeteria in the Health Sciences Center, and on the 4 th floor of Ruby Memorial Hospital. Hours vary by location. Public Safety and Transportation The Parking Office, Motor Pool, University Police, and Personal Rapid Transit headquarters are located off-campus on University Ave. Student Recreation Center The Student Rec Center provides classes, outdoor and sports equipment check-out, and extensive exercise and sports facilities for students and faculty. Student Health Services Student Health is in the basement of the Health Sciences Building behind Ruby Memorial Hospital. Confidential treatment for general illnesses and injuries is available as well as testing, education, and family services. MountainLine Bus Service All WVU faculty, staff, and students can ride local Mountain Line buses for free with a valid WVU ID. Blue & Gold Connector operates every day, running every 20 min. to connect Towers, Lincoln Hall, Law School, 8 th St, Grant Ave, Summit Hall, Life Sciences Building, Campus Dr, Beechurst, CAC/Engineering, and Ag Sciences by way of Evansdale Dr. The bus begins at 6:40 at Brooke Towers on Rawley St, travels downtown, and returns to CAC & Engineering 10 min. later. The evening service (Mon-Fri; Sat during Fall & Spring) begins at 6:40 and ends at 11:10. Gold Line runs every 80 min. Mon-Fri 6-5:10. It connects the Depot, Downtown Public Safety Bldg, Mountainlair, Stewart St, Towers, Ruby Memorial, Van Voorhis, Independence Hill, Bakers Ridge Rd, West Run Rd, North Hills, and Mon General. Service is reduced on Sat. Red Line operates Mon-Sat 6:20-6:00 every 80 min. It stops at the Depot, Boreman Hall, Mountainlair, Sunnyside, Ruby Memorial, Suncrest, Junior Ave, Fairfield St, Star City, Western Ave, Collins Ferry Rd, Ruby Memorial, Towers, and Lincoln Hall. Campus P.M. runs every 10 min. from 10:30 p.m. to 3:10 a.m. Thur-Sat during the Fall & Spring semesters. It connects Towers, Lincoln Hall, College Park Apts, Valley View, Stewart St, Sunnyside, the Mountainlair, and downtown Morgantown. Grey Line connects Clarksburg, Fairmont, Morgantown, the Downtown Pittsburgh Greyhound terminal, and the Pittsburgh International Airport. Buses are equipped with bike racks. The Gold Line and Red Line connect to the Rail Trail at Van Voorhis and Star City. All bus routes can be accessed from the Depot. There is no charge for traveling with a bicycle.
