4 Digital TV: Keeping Seniors Connected Campaign What is the goal? To mobilize the national aging service delivery system at the community level by engaging the memberships of the participating national associations to help ensure that older people who currently watch over-the- air broadcasts transition to digital transmission. What are the objectives? To outreach and educate older adults on the digital switchover. To provide one-to-one assistance to: assess the need for a digital converter box; apply for the federally-funded $40 coupon to purchase a converter box; acquire and set up the box and related equipment; learn how to use the new technology; and trouble-shoot digital TV problems.

Vulnerable seniors and person with disabilities: low-income, rural, frontier, and homebound older persons; and minority and limited English-speaking older persons. Who are the national partners? 6 Digital TV: Keeping Seniors Connected Campaign Round ILocal Grantees ( January 1-March 31, 2009) Locations were selected to reflect NTIA red zones plus ready-to-go aging organizations. 100 local grassroots campaigns in 38 states, the District of Columbia, and 86 cities across the country Goal: 250,000 service contacts for outreach/ education and for individualized assistance Round I Local Grantees with Extensions April 1July 17, 2009 84 locations

7 Digital TV: Keeping Seniors Connected Campaign Round IILocal Grants Locations were selected to reflect NTIA and FCC priority markets plus ready-to-go organizations May 1July 17, 2009 33 grassroots organizations in 19 states and 33 cities across the country Goal: 96,660 service contacts for outreach/ education and individualized assistance Round I and II Combined 116 grassroots organizations in 39 states plus DC and 101 cities across the country
