2 6/7/20142 What is Ultimate Football Ultimate football is a modified version of regulation football. It has the similarities of Ultimate Frisbee. The objective is to move the ball down the playing area by passing it from teammate to teammate without allowing the other team to gain possession.

3 Ultimate Football and Health- Related Fitness Cardiovascular Endurance game does not stop for plays like regulation football, it is continuous like soccer so it is constantly demanding for your heart and lungs thus improving the cardiovascular system. Muscular Endurance you are constantly running, jumping and throwing in this game which demands your muscles to work for a long period of time. 6/7/20143

4 Ultimate Football and Health- Related Fitness cont. Muscular Strength you rely on strength to throw the ball, jump to intercept and deflect. Flexibility you need to have full movement within the joints of your shoulders to throw the ball effectively. Body Composition if you choose this as your activity of choice to improve your fitness levels, body composition can be improved. 6/7/20144

5 Ultimate Football and Skill- Related Fitness Agility you have to be able to change directions quickly offensively to get open for a pass. You also have to be able to change directions quickly as a defender to keep a player from catching a pass. Balance balance is important to keep you upright when passing, catching, intercepting or tipping a pass. Coordination being able to do two things at once in this game gives you an advantage...you have to be able to jump and catch at the same time, run sideways and throw as well as jump and tip. 6/7/20145

6 Ultimate Football and Skill- Related Fitness cont. Power – you have to perform a pass quickly and with enough force to get the ball to a teammate. You have to jump quickly and with enough force to get the ball before the other team does. Reaction Time reacting quickly to get to a ball before the other team does. Speed speed is important because you have to move quickly to get open for a pass, to move to open spaces and to defend. 6/7/20146

7 Scoring When a team scores at the opposing teams end zone, by having to feet behind the end zone line. When that occurs, that team earns one point. Change of possession takes place at the spot of scoring. Once a team scores, the other team picks up the ball and begins their offensive drive. 6/7/20147

8 RulesOffensive Team The person with possession of the ball may not move forward towards their goal. They only have 5 seconds to make a pass or it is turn over. The person with the ball may move backwards or side to side to avoid the defenders. When catching a ball an offensive player is allowed two steps to stop after catching. 6/7/20148

9 Rules--Defense Defenders must be an arms length in distance when defending. Contact cannot be made when going for a passed ball. You may not smack the ball out of a players hand. You may tip the ball once it is in the air. You may intercept a pass that is in the air. 6/7/20149
